Once we are on this planet, we are beginning to age. When we are young, it doesn’t faze us. Sometimes we want to grow older faster, so we can get to the next best thing. However, as we get later on in years, we sometimes wish that we could slow down or even reverse this process.
The bottom line is that we all hope to be as healthy as possible until we die. We can look around and see so many elders who are here in body but not in mind or are suffering from a myriad of diseases. Growing older does not mean that we have to get sick. We want a better quality of life as we age.
In order to feel healthy and energetic longer, it is going to require being conscious of the choices we are making. We live in a society that does not cater to good health! So we need to exercise caution not to follow the status quo. This may require a coach, a support group or strong willpower to make choices that possibly your friends are not making.
Let’s take a look at what we can do for the physical body.
Let’s look at your eating lifestyle. Is it based on fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, less meat if you are a meat eater, no dairy from the cow or soy milk, low or no sugar and no trans fats? Everywhere we look we see lots of sugar and lots of trans fat type of foods. When people actually change their lifestyle to healthy eating, they are choosing organic foods, eating smaller portions, and choosing more alkaline foods. They are going chemical free with a minimum of processed foods. So take a look in this area of your life and see if you need to make any changes in order to live longer, healthier.
Good quality food supplements are vital these days. When food became a business one hundred years ago, the quality of our food diminished greatly. So we are in a position where supplementation is essential these days. You can read more about this in my blog at http://charleneday.com/which-vitamins-to-buy/.
Getting the right amount of sleep for your body is important. The best way to find out what your body needs is to not set an alarm and then see when you wake up naturally. Do that for a few days and take the average and that will be what your body needs for regeneration.
Deep breathing is crucial for slowing down the aging process. Take a few minutes each day and concentrate on breathing to a count of four. Breathing in for 4, holding for 4 and exhaling for 4. Exercise is essential as well to slow down the aging process. Find what you love and do it often.
Another aspect of healthy living is looking to avoid the toxins around us as much as we can. The only place we have complete control is in our own home. Our homes can be filled with countless harmful toxic chemicals. Most likely they will be found in our cleaning products but they can also be found in our grooming aids. Investigate the natural ways to cleaning and grooming yourself. I chose Shaklee products to clean up the toxins in my house. They are recommended by Dr. Doris Rapp, a noted pediatrician, and allergy specialist, as well as many other professionals.
There are many areas to look at in terms of slowing down the aging process. In the next blog, we will look at the mental/emotional aspects of staying younger longer. For more information or to ask any questions, go to http://charleneday.com/contact/.
To your good health!
