Earth Day 2018, What Can You Do?

Earth Day originated out of a growing global ecological awareness back on April 22,1970. Now more than 1 billion people in 192 countries take part in what is the largest civic-focused day of action in the world.
It is a day of planting trees, or cleaning up neighbourhoods, or nature walks.

It’s a reminder that everyday is earth day.

This year the Earth Day Network announced that Earth Day 2018 will focus on mobilizing the world to End Plastic Pollution. The exponential growth of plastics is threatening our planet’s survival. The goals include ending single-use plastics, promoting alternatives to fossil fuel-based materials, promoting 100 percent recycling of plastics, corporate and government accountability and changing human behavior concerning plastics. EDN will educate millions of people about the health and other risks associated with the use and disposal of plastics. This includes the pollution of our oceans, water, and wildlife.
Everything is interconnected. So, our environment is really an extension of us. What we do to the planet, we do to ourselves.
As the Native Americans say, “We have not inherited the earth from our fathers. We are BORROWING it from our children.”

What you can do:

  • Don’t buy individually wrapped items.
  • Choose to reject, reduce, reuse and recycle plastics.
  • Buy products with less packaging.
  • Use your own reusable bags for every shopping trip.
  • Eat less animal products.
  • Eat more raw food items like salads.
  • Do not waste water.
  • Invest in a home water filter instead of buying and drinking bottled water.
  • Recycle.
  • Replace lights with energy-efficient bulbs.
  • Turn off lights when you’re not in the room.
  • Buy recycled paper.
  • Walk or ride your bike to work, school and anywhere you can.
  • Compost.
  • Boycott the use of pesticides on your property.
  • Start a small backyard vegetable garden.
  • Buy earth friendly cleaning products.
Earth Day
There are many things that we can do as we can make change when we vote with our pocketbook.
In honor of Earth Day, I will give out free samples of the earth friendly cleaning product to anyone who contacts me in April.
To your good health!

Our Environment – The Global And The Personal

Globally this week we celebrate Earth Day April 22. Various events will be held to demonstrate support for environmental protection. I will be hosting an event as well on April 23 which will include planting trees in a nearby park. The weekend is to remind us of the importance of Mother Earth and encourage respect for life.  It is a reminder that one person’s single action can make a difference and when we add them all up, they make a profound difference.  To find out how you can contribute to lowering your carbon footprint, you are welcomed to go to https://www.eventbrite.com/e/earth-day-2017-passport-to-health-tickets-33801321663.
Now let’s look at our environment in a personal way. Our outer environment is the sum total of all the sources through which we are influenced through the aid of our five senses. What we see, hear, touch, taste and smell. For example, our environment consists of the books we read, the people with whom we associate, the community in which we live, the nature of the work in which we are engaged, the country where we reside, the clothes we wear and the religious training we received as children.
In addition, we have our inner environment. This is harder to see as we have no pictures of our mind. The mind is an activity. So our inner environment is the activity of our mind.  That activity translates into the results we see daily in our outer environment. Whatever our influences are, they affect our thoughts and they, in turn, affect our feelings, which in turn affect our actions and finally our results.
The mind feeds upon that which we supply it or that which is forced upon it through our environment. Therefore it is important to select our environment as much as possible with the purpose of supplying the mind with appropriate material that sustains our overall purpose.
If your environment is not to your liking, then change it. First, you need to find the correct environment that will support your desires and concentrate on this picture until you transform it into reality. Be careful who you hang out with. Make sure everything and everyone support your desires.
Remember even the little details of your environment are important.  What you wear gives messages to your mind that can either lift you up or bring you down.  For instance, the condition of your desk gives you clues as to the state of your mind and will affect your feelings about your environment.
Our personal environment is crucial to examine, as the condition of it will either make us or break us. Sometimes we need that mastermind alliance of two or more people in the spirit of perfect harmony for the purpose of attaining a desired outcome,  a blending of minds to help us see things about our inner environment that are not so easy to see on our own. To your success.
